Febuary - Form 3 & Form 4 classes begin in Ram Autar Building. School name was Lautoka High School.
School name was changed to Lautoka Tutorial College.
May - School was handed over to Bhartita Mitra Mandali.
School name was changed to TILAK HIGH SCHOOL.

Two story building with 3 classrooms, 2 laboratories and a toilet block was constructed at 1 Hollader road.
Three classs shifted to the new site, while the rest continued at Tavewa Avenue building.
Another 2 story building comprising of 8 classrooms and a toilet block was constructed.
The administrative block was constructed. The rest of the classes also shifted to 1 Hollander Road.

1979 marked the 25 year for Tilak High School. A week long silver jubilee celebration was organised. Singing competition, essay, oratory, drama and soccer were few of the activities organised over the 5 day celebration. Charity Queen Contest was also organised and all the 13 forms took part. The chief guest for the final day of celebration was the Australian Deputy High Commissioner in Fiji, Mr. W. J. Farmer. Kalpana of Form 5G was crowned the Charity Queen of Tilak High School.
Construction of Technical Block began.
The government of India donated the Tilak Bust which is established in front of the office. The official unveiling of the bust was done by Her Excellency Mrs S. Kochar, High Commissioner for India in Fiji.
Rugby was introduced at Tilak High School.
Tilak Hockey team won the Girmit tournament organised by the Lautoka Hockey Association and the Knock Out Tournament also organised by the Lautoka Hockey Association.
The construction of technical block was completed. It consisted of the Woodwork workshop, Technical Drawing room (current Year 1303 room) and Home Economics room (current Year 1305 room).
Tilak Hockey Team:
1. Won the Knock Out Tournament organised by the Lautoka Hockey Association. The team also won the Best Dressed Team Trophy.
2. Runner up in the Noal Cup Tournament
3. Won the Lee's Trophy Tournament.
The Minister for Education Honourable. Semesa Sikivou officially opened the Technical Block on 27 June, 1981.
